Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

We are currently seeking bright, hard-working students like you, interested in advancing the science and art of veterinary medicine wherever you choose. Our graduates are skilled veterinarians, committed to a "One Health" philosophy promoting and protecting the health of animals, people, and our shared environment alike. So, what sets our program apart from veterinary programs at other institutions? By accepting students in both the spring and fall, the LMU-CVM is the largest college of veterinary medicine in the country. We accept 100 students for our spring semesters and 125 students for our fall semesters. However, we take pride in our smaller laboratory group sizes so that we can ensure you receive a hands-on teaching experience in a nurturing learning environment. At LMU, we've designed our innovative program to function without a teaching hospital and instead give you the opportunity to learn through real-world experiences during your time with us.

Review the requirements listed below to ensure that you meet the necessary criteria for admission into our program.

Minimum Academic Requirements

To qualify, you must have at least 46 semesters or 66 quarter units from a regionally accredited college or university. 

Your GRE scores are not required and will not be considered. Alternatively, LMU-CVM requires the Casper Assessment.

*If you intend to practice in the state of New York, you must have at least 60 semester units, and a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.8 in all coursework as calculated by VMCAS. If you do not meet the criteria or possess a GPA of less than 2.8, but have demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence in your last two years of study (most recent 40 semester hours) you may still be considered for admission.

How to Apply

All applicants to the LMU-CVM will be considered for either the spring or fall cohort. By submitting your application in accordance with the timelines listed below, you will be eligible for early interviews and decision-making. 

Spring Cohort Application Timeline

You must ensure that all of your required documents (eLOR, transcripts, etc.) are submitted before the LMU June 30th deadline. If you fail to submit the required information prior to this date, you may still be eligible for entry into the spring semester. Please note that by failing to meet this deadline, acceptance offers/decisions will occur later in the fall, which will result in less time to prepare for classes to begin in January.
